First and foremost Joanne is a wife and mother to three boys, Dustin, Derek, and David. She is a native Floridian and the second daughter of two children. Her mother was a stay home mom and her father was a military man. She grew up when it was socially acceptable to be a one-income family—when 77 percent of the wives stayed home and the median family income was $30,000. Joanne and Michael chose Melbourne to start a family in Janurary 1986.
Joanne has a Masters degree in Public Administration and Human Resource Development, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Organizational Management. November 2006 was Joanne's initial run for public office where she was elected at large by 53% of the Melbourne voters. Her campaign slogan, Stop! Look! Listen!, is the vehicle she intends to rely on to defend Melbourne resident against unnecessary spending, taxation, and regulations.
